There is, however, one criterion that often prevails over the others and which forces us to subdivide this selection into two "camps". On the one hand, we have the so-called keyboards gamers "mechanical" and, on the other hand, "membrane" models. Some players won't even want to hear about this second category, but there's something for everyone.

A gaming keyboard is a computer input device that has been optimized and configured to meet the response needs of video game enthusiasts or "gamers" in their own jargon.

This accessory differs from the classic computer keyboard, which is more intended for strictly office use. But due to its ergonomic design, the gamer keyboard is very useful in everyday life.

Its use goes beyond gaming, it is also adopted by graphic designers and video editing professionals. The gaming keyboard is a tool that is abused for hours by the player. Its keys are backlit to facilitate quick identification. They are also programmable according to the specific needs of a game.

1. Logitech G915 Lightspeed

The Logitech G915 is a bit like the "Rolls Royce" of gaming keyboards, even if that judgment is eminently subjective. With an "unbeatable" price, there are two versions depending on whether you choose wired (G815) or wireless (G915 Lightspeed). It's this second version that we're keeping for the freedom it allows, of course.

For the rest, the two are rigorously identical with plenty of arguments to convince the most demanding of gamers. Of course, there are the GL switches developed by Logitech in partnership with Kailh: ultra-flat, they guarantee the keyboard's remarkable delicacy. Its responsiveness remains perfect and several variations are possible, depending on whether you prefer linear, tactile or clickable. Be careful though, the 1.5 mm activation point may surprise some gamers, but once you've tried it, it's hard to go back.

2. Razer DeathStalker Pro V2

On paper, Razer has gone to great lengths to bring the DeathStalker V2 Pro to the high-end gaming keyboard market. The use of ultra-flat optical switches obviously plays in its favor, allowing the thickness of the keyboard to be considerably limited for absolutely perfect responsiveness. The successful design, triple connectivity and excellent autonomy are other advantages of a model that unfortunately comes close to the $250.

This price does not encourage indulgence and we expect a product that is, so to speak, perfect. Unfortunately, this is far from the case and Razer disappoints from the outset by being satisfied with ABS plastic for the keys. Worse still, it doesn't even make it possible to ensure that the secondary functions of the keys are illuminated correctly. Newbie mistake. It's more personal, but the feel of the keys didn't convince us and makes typing not as pleasant as you might expect. On the other hand, nothing to complain about in terms of operating silence or the quality of the backlighting. A mixed record, therefore, given Razer's ambitions.

3. ASUS ROG Strix Scope NX Wireless Deluxe

A few weeks after testing the GG Ironclad, getting your hands on a product designed by a major brand is an opportunity to see the difference between a passionate designer and a gaming peripheral giant. The ROG Strix Scope NX is clearly a very good product, but we felt that the trade-offs were made by ASUS without us always understanding why and how.

So the use of ABS plastic in a $150 or so keyboard is a real disappointment. The same goes for the risky management of noise pollution directly linked to the open structure of an aluminum chassis. ASUS here seems to favor aesthetics over the functional character of its product. Don't worry, if the Strix NX can be improved, it also has indisputable advantages, such as high-quality contactors, excellent backlighting and a triple connection that gives it remarkable versatility.
