Discover the best free VPNs for your iPhone

Of all the services we tested, ProtonVPN is undoubtedly the best free VPN for iPhone and iOS devices, especially thanks to its data speeds and security. If you're looking for a larger server network, Speedify is a great choice. Below is an overview of each of the VPNs in the table.

1. ProtonVPN

ProtonVPN is a product of Proton Technologies AG, the company that also offers ProtonMail. If you wish, you can also take advantage of the free version of ProtonMail, as well as other free Proton services, with your VPN. This free VPN service allows unlimited data consumption and offers high speeds. Its overall ergonomics make it the best choice for iPhone users.

2. AtlasVPN

AtlasVPN recorded one of the fastest download speeds of any free iPhone VPN we tested. Although AtlasVPN claims not to impose a speed limit on users of the free version, upload speeds were nowhere near as good.

AtlasVPN operates a no-logging policy. Only the data needed for analysis is collected and no information that allows the individual user to be traced is recorded or logged. However, it operates in the United States, so it may be necessary to provide data about its users to law enforcement agencies such as the FBI.

3. Avira Phantom VPN

Avira Phantom VPN is a product from the catalog of the German security software company that created the popular Avira antivirus. This is one of the few free VPNs for iPhone that allows unlimited simultaneous connections.

With its speeds and ping so low, Avira is an excellent all-round VPN. You can use it for gaming, watching videos and surfing the web. This versatility is, however, annihilated by its limit of 500 MB of data per day . Although you can enjoy an additional 500 MB by signing up using your email address, it's still not enough for data-intensive activities.

4. Speefify

Speedify is a service that improves internet connections and also acts as a VPN. It offers excellent speeds and a large network of servers.

The speeds are fantastic. So you can go about your daily online activities without any problems. Obviously, like other free VPNs, Speedify doesn't have the best unblocking abilities, despite having a network of servers covering more than 37 countries. It was impossible for us to access Netflix's American catalog, for example. Not all Speedify servers support P2P file sharing.

5. ZoogVPN

ZoogVPN has been on the market since 2013. It provides good upstream speeds and a good data cap for free users.

Its impressive upload speeds and the fact that it offers 10 GB of data per month make it a good option for streaming. However, we couldn't get around the geographical restrictions used by the main platforms using ZoogVPN's free version. It also allows P2P file sharing.

As part of its free version, Zoog offers servers in three countries (the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States). It's not much, but the servers are spread all over the world. So you can enjoy a very fast connection, regardless of your location.

6. Hide.me

Hide.me is a VPN service that has been on the market since 2012. It is known for its advanced security features.

The fact that we chose a VPN server very far from our location could explain these results. However, this is a problem that users located in Asia, South America and Africa are likely to encounter, as Hide.me's free servers are mainly spread across the United States and Europe.

Although these speeds aren't top level, you do get a quota of 10 GB of data per month. It's not great compared to other free VPNs like Proton and AtlasVPN, but it's good enough to make our list worthwhile.
